Hades 2: How to Get Cattail

In Hades 2, players take on the role of Melinoe, a witch exploring the depths of the underworld. Unlike her brother Zagreus, who relies on brute strength, Melinoe's power stems from her ability to cultivate and harness the rare plants found throughout the game. One such plant is the Cattail, which plays a crucial role in unlocking various incantations that can significantly aid Melinoe on her journey.

Where to Find Cattail Seeds

Cattail seeds can only be obtained in the Oceanus biome, the second major area in Hades 2. To acquire these seeds, players must first unlock the Silver Spade tool, which is essential for digging up the seeds from specific spots within Oceanus. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to obtain Cattail seeds:

• Step 1: Collect 1 Ash to obtain the Crescent Pick.
• Step 2: Head to Erebus and collect Silver.
• Step 3: Use 10 Silver to unlock the Silver Spade.
• Step 4: Equip the Silver Spade in your next run and defeat Hecate to reach Oceanus.
• Step 5: Look for dig sites in Oceanus and use the Silver Spade to dig up the ground and retrieve Cattail Seeds.

It is important to note that the location of the seed spots changes with each run. This means that players will need to explore and search for them in every playthrough.

Growing Cattails 

Once players have obtained Cattail seeds, the next step is to grow them in their garden. To do this, they will need to unlock the Flourishing Soil incantation. This can be done by collecting one yellow Moly flower in Erebus. Here's how to grow Cattails:

• Step 1: Unlock the Flourishing Soil incantation to receive two soil plots for growing crops.
• Step 2: Visit the Crossroads and locate the soil plots to the right of the Incantations Cauldron and Odysseus.
• Step 3: Plant the Cattail seeds in the soil plots and wait for them to grow.

After completing nine encounters, the Cattail plants will yield Cattail items. These items are used for unlocking various incantations.

Using Cattails 

Cattails can be used to unlock several powerful incantations that provide various benefits in Hades 2. Here are some examples of incantations that require Cattails:

1. Surge of Stygian Wells: Requires three Moly and three Cattails. Allows players to search Wells of Charon between biomes after defeating bosses.
2. Purification of Fountain-Waters: Requires one Nightshade and one Cattail. Enhances fountains to restore 10% more health.
3. Rite of River-Fording: Requires four Driftwood and two Cattails. Adds a Fishing Pier near Crossroads, allowing players to fish and receive rewards.

Additionally, if players find themselves with excess Cattails, they can sell them to the Wretched Broker for 12 bones each.
